Training and Consultancy Services
Cooper Barton Ltd offers bespoke training for your governing board, or for school clusters by arrangement. Training sessions are designed to develop the key skills and knowledge necessary for effective governance. The sessions can be delivered in-school at a time and date convenient to your governing board or cluster.
Training can be offered through the National Governors’ Association. For available courses, please visit their website http://www.nga.org.uk/Services/ConsultancyandTraining.aspx.
We also provide the following courses for school clusters only:
- Safer Recruitment
- Recruiting and Retaining Effective Governors
If you are interested in arranging training, please contact us for details of charges and availability– we will be happy to discuss your needs.
For governing boards that require more in-depth support, we offer External Reviews of Governance based on the framework provided by the National College for Teaching and Leadership at the following levels:
(a) Governance health check
The purpose of a health check is to work with a governing board to determine whether it is operating efficiently and effectively. We will work with your governors to determine the board’s key priorities and deliver an interactive self-review workshop.
(b) External review of governance
We will review your governance practice through consultation, reviewing documentation and facilitating a self-review session for the governing board. A report will be compiled, making recommendations for strengthening governance.
(c) Enhanced external review of governance
An external review with additional follow-up support built in to further support the governing board in implementing the review’s recommendations.
If you are interested in any of these services, please contact us to discuss charges.
We also accept commissions of bespoke work, e.g. developing schemes of delegation for Academy Trusts. Please contact us for further information and charges.
